Dear City Council,
As a resident of Kalispell I want to URGENTLY encourage the you, in your adoption of the Move 2040 Kalispell Area
Transportation Plan, to support revitalizing Main Street by making it a three -lane road instead of making Downtown a
thoroughfare for yet more traffic. Please also give greater priority in and around Kalispell to providing infrastructure for
alternative forms of transportation -- walking, biking, ride sharing, and bus service as a way to decrease automobile
congestion.
The consultant that drafted the Move 2040 Kalispell Area Transportation Plan has IGNORED city adopted goals and plans
for Downtown Kalispell! PLEASE apy heed to the goals and plans that have been adopted by the City of Kalispell as
outlined by Citizens for a Better Flathead!
• Engage with the Montana Department of Transportation and other stakeholders, as
a top priority, to complete a detailed corridor design study that implements a
three -lane Main Street design.
• Use a complete street approach for all new construction in and around the urban
core for a more walkable-bikable City and establish a long term funding
mechanism for trail and sidewalk maintenance.
• Retain historic, economic, social, visual, pedestrian, and community character
priorities as much as possible when planning for transportation infrastructure.
Sincerely,
Patrice A. Manget
Resident of Kalispell, Montana
