I am writing to express my dismay over what I know about the move 2040 transportation plan for the city of Kalispell.
MY GOD how can any plan speaking about transportation today not include, increased bicycle, pedestrian or public
transportation access. This is 2021 our state is burning up, climate change IS a reality. If we are going to survive as a
community (species) we have to shrink our carbon use. Increasing ways to move more cars through downtown IS NOT
the answer. Increasing density, providing for non motorized access is the sustainable way we need to go as a city and
downtown.
We cannot build our transportation system out of this pace of growth, it will not happen, we will always be behind. It is
time to think out of the box, look at some European models of mixed access and higher density living. It is more
sustainable, it breaths hope into the future.
The Kalispell Downtown Plan and Kalispell Urban Renewal Plan are much more inline with what our community vision
should be. Please do not through these visions of the future out for a hoax of a fix to our traffic problems.
