Subject: EXTERNAL comment on Move 2040 Kalispell Area Transportation Plan
Dear Kalispell City Council,
This plan is too focused on more pavement, more bridges, and more cars.
For thriving citizens and communities, encourage people to switch from using cars to walking, public transit, and
bicycling by providing bicycle and walking routes that are connected, safe, and pleasant, and expanded bus service.
So many times I have wished I could get to town by putting my bike on a bus, and then use the bicycle to do my errands.
It seems crazy for me to drive alone in my car with hundreds of people doing the same thing, going to the same area.
But our system is set up to make anything else very inconvenient, dangerous, and annoying because of all the car traffic.
Please follow the Kalispell Downtown Plan and re -write the Transportation Plan. Emphasize methods that work for
people who want to save money, want a healthier, pleasanter way to move, or are too old or too young to drive or can't
for other reasons. By the way, that includes every single one of us at various points in our lives.
This will save the city a lot of money, too.
