05-17-21 Conrad Mansion Board of Directors MinutesConrad Mansion Museum Board of Directors Meeting May 17, 2021, 4:00 at City Hall WELCOME: Members present: (All In Person) Sue Corrigan, Teri Iwerson, Mary Pat Murphy, Katharine King, Gary Havens, Mark Schickendantz, Diane Morton Stout, Natalie Robins, Diane Medler, Carrie Nelson, and Museum Director Brit Clark. Approval of Minutes: Diane Morton Stout attended the April meeting via Zoom. She will be added to minutes. Treasurer Report: • Mark Schickendantz reviewed the treasurer report as Everit is out of town. Endowment is doing well. Sponsorships look good. It is hard to make a comparison with this point last year which was such an anomaly. Committee Reports: Maintenance Committee: • Mark Schickendantz has visited with Anderson Masonry, Dan Ringquist, and Robert to find out information about installation, materials, construction time, and past marketing done for the brick project done at Buffalo Hills Golf Course. Best to do in sections of 100 square feet and have it be a fall project so summer tours are not impacted. Like to do in segments of 30-50 bricks at a time. (1 pallet = 160 bricks). Communicate with donors when they will be able to see bricks installed. Marketing Committee: • Diane shared update on Interlake in -kind donation. Credit will be used for May 15t" ad. They are interested in renewing in -kind donation. Last year they donated a $5,000 value. Room sponsorship recognition signs were ordered for opening day. Museum Directors Report: • Brit thanked everyone who helped out at the Mansion for the season kick-off festivities to let the community know we are open for the season. Thank you to Beth Collier for sponsoring the Kick -Off event. • It has been a busy few weeks at the Mansion. The Whitefish Community Foundation Day of Unity raised $3,690. The Mother's Day Tour proceeds were split with Apple Creek Events and raised about $500. • At the end of the "Off Season" from Jan -May 15t", the Mansion had $8,000 in self - guided tours! Tour schedules for the 2021 season are in place. There may be some experimentation to see which tours (guided/self-guided) people want. • Plans are underway for the annual 4t" of July Ice Cream Social. Gary Havens donated a freezer a while ago. Mansion guides will dress in Victorian attire and carry a sign for the parade. No float. Sign-ups will come later. • A Grad student collections volunteer will be coming in June. She will volunteer a few times a week. Other Business: • Brit shared an update on Marea and baby Forest. Both are doing well. • Mansion Meeting Schedule o Historically the Mansion has changed meeting days to Mondays when the when the tour season started. Mary Pat asked if members are comfortable keeping meetings on Tuesday year-round. Members were ok. o Sue Corrigan moved to keep monthly meetings on the 3rd Tuesday of the month at City Hall. Teri Iwerson seconded. • Membership o Sue has done some research ad has not found anything to indicate that museum membership has gone by the wayside. She is willing to put together a plan to revamp membership. Diane Morton Stout and Mary Pat will help work on it. • Kalispell Museum Passports o Brit shared the local museums would like to work together to put together a passport package. It could be included in vacation rental packets, etc. Mark was supportive with the advice that it not create a book-keeping hassle. • Staff/Boa rd/Volunteer party o Sue asked if we want to hold the volunteer party this year. Sue will contact Biblers about holding at the gardens in the fall. • Teri Iwerson shared some information and encouragement about Glacier Park's limited entrance tickets this season. As the season progresses, they will open it to more visitors. Volunteers will be stationed at different checkpoints to provide information to visitors. Meeting Adjourned: approx. 5:00
