A RESOLUTION TO AMEND RULE XV (2) OF THE RULES AND
REGULATIONS FOR THE KALISPELL WATER DEPARTMENT.
WHEREAS, Rule XV (2) of the Rules and Regulations
for the Water Department provides for the "Location
of Meters" for the purpose of metering water services
to structures served by the Kalispell Water Department;
and
WHEREAS, manufacturers of water metering devices
recommend said installation procedures be followed to
assure proper functioning of said water metering de-
vices; and
WHEREAS, it has become necessary to specify the
method of installation in order to assure maximum water
meter efficiency.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council
of the City of Kalispell, Montana, that Rule XV (2)
of the Rules and Regulations for the Kalispell Water
Department is hereby amended to read as follows:
(2) Location of deters. The customer shall
provide adequate protection of the meter from
frost or other damage and the customer shall
provide and install a meter box, approved by
the Director of Public Works for such protection
if the meter is located outside of a structure
which would otherwise protect it from freezing
or other damage. The meter must be located in
a horizontal position and where it is easily-"
accessible for purposes of reading and repairing.
When a meter is located inside a house or build-
ing, the Water Department, at its own expense,
may install a remote register for meter reading
on the exterior of the house or building. The
cost of repairs to meters caused by freezing or
other damage shall be paid by the customer.
