3ustification for Changes
(1) The businesses surrounding the parking lot at First Avenue -West are
engaged in a beautification project which is in harmony with the
City's objective of beautifying and utilizing alleways for pedestrian
access. The 5' sidewalk shown on the contract drawings would detract
from the adjoining owners' efforts. It is also proposed to delete
the 45' of vertical curb nearest the sidewalk except for that portion
which boxes in the center planter since its purpose can essentially
be attained by striping.
(2) The existing concrete sidewalk on each side of the proposed 10'
driveway on the north side of the City Nall parking area is cracked
and Spaulding. These sections need to be be replaced now before
they become -a hazard.
