On February 27,, 2021 at 0959 hrs. Kalispell Police Officers were dispatched to o report of a
suspicious male in the area of Depot Park in Kalispell. Dispatch advised officers rs that the male
was breaking into a vehicle in the area. A KPD Sergeant was the first on scene and located the
suspect rule on foot. The Sergeant activated his emergency top lights to alert the rule of his
presence. The suspect rule immediately moved towards the office- and pulled a can of bear
spray and a machete out of his pocket.
The Sergeant remained in the vehicle and backed away from the suspect. The rule deplored
the bear spray at the Sergeant and struck the patrol vehicle with the machete. The Sergeant
kept separation with his vehicle until back-up officers arrived on scene. Officers were then able
to exit their vehicles and take the suspect into custody without further incident. The suspect
was booked into Flathead County Detention Center. The investigation is ongoing.
