City Council zoning change 2-16-2021 Public Comment from James MaloneCity Council City of Kalispell 201 1 st Ave. E/ Kalispell, MT 59901 Comments for 2-16-2021 Council Meeting have commented two times on the proposed changes in allowable use of Assessory buildings within the city limits of Kalispell, 11-31-2020 and for the Feb 1-2021 meeting relating to this subject. I live at 1211 7th Ave. E, Kalispell. Although this is a R-3 zone and is not proposed to be included in the changes being considered at this Feb-16 meeting my home is located adjacent to the areas included in the Feb 16th meeting and I would appreciate it if the Council will consider my comments appropriate. The proposed change of allowing accessory buildings to be rented as room rentals will create high density living quarters in a LARGE AREA OF THE CITY under the guise of creating affordable housing. High density living historically has created low rent districts and SLUMS in many of our cities in the US. Kalispell should not proceed with this zoning change. We do not need SLUMS in Kalispell. Kalispell should be a model city that attracts residents that appreciate neighbors that are proud of their home and maintain it. Single Family Zoning should be interpreted just as it sounds, SINGLE FAMILY. Rental of assessor buildings opens the doors to uncontrolled and unwanted residents that are not a part of the home owner's family and have very little interest in maintaining the property both on the exterior and on the interior, they are just looking for an inexpensive place to live. Please consider this proposed action and help maintain Kalispell as an attractive area for persons wanting to relocate to smaller cities throughout the US. Respectfully James Malone
