I received the following comment via text message from an older couple in my neighborhood
who do not use computers.
"I read in the paper that the council is considering ADUs. I am a strong supporter of these, and
may well be living in one myself some day, but I feel it is critical to stipulate that they cannot
be used as short term rentals. Many communities have had ADUs turned into VRBOs, which
has totally changed the character of the neighborhoods, and not for the better. We have two
VRBOs right across the street. Renters arrive on the late flight and leave on the early one.
Their coming and goings at 1:30am and 4:00am are noisy and disturb our sleep. Vacationers
can also be noisy in the evenings, showing little consideration for the neighbors who live here.
Without restricting length of stay, I would not be in favor of ADUs. Somebody's granny or
mother-in-law is one thing, and a constant stream of vacationers is another. Thanks for your
consideration. Judith Pressmar and Lex Blood."
