Public comment for city council mtg tonight from Steve & Julie MartinFrom:Julie Martin To:Kalispell Meetings Public Comment Subject:[EXTERNAL] Public comment for city council mtg tonight (8/19) Date:Wednesday, August 19, 2020 8:21:12 PM Dear Mayor Johnson and City Council members, It was rather disappointing to hear that once again your meeting will be virtual-only, with no public comment allowed, other than what is submitted in writing. Even though it will be partof the public record, none of it is read aloud and therefore is basically ignored. Your meeting tonight is discussing some very crucial issues and not allowing in-person or even online/livecomment is unacceptable. It is a violation of Article II, Sections 8 & 9 of the Montana constitution. Governor Bullock is the executive branch, not the legislative. His directives are therefore notlaw, as he cannot make law. Not to mention that his "directive" is based on flawed information that is widely disputed and for good reason, because it is not actually based onreal science and completely conflicts with proven practices that existed prior to this "epidemic" and for good reason - because these proven practices worked. What solution are you offering for those who do not have computer access? How are youallowing for objections based on what is discussed, since there is no opportunity for public comment on the specific issues as they occur? It is of grave concern to us that all of you wentfrom being very accessible to hiding behind a computer in such a short period of time. Sincerely, Steve & Julie Martin Kalispell
