Funding of Emergency Services Public Comment from Lynn NobleFrom:Lynn Noble To:Kalispell Meetings Public Comment Cc:Randy Brodehl Subject:[EXTERNAL] Funding of Emergency Services Date:Wednesday, August 19, 2020 11:13:00 AM Mayor and City Councilmen: It is inexcusable that our emergency services are underfunded causing our fire departments to close and ambulance services to be suspended. It is my understanding that two years ago a study was performed costing the taxpayers over $40,000 to determine the staffing and funding needs of our emergency services going forward as our community expands. I would ask that you make this study public and advise on what steps you intend to take to follow the recommendations set forth in that study; and why have they not been undertaken so far? Our taxes continue to go up while our emergency services are in jeopardy. This needs to be a priority of the council and made public. Secondly, moving the Open Public Council Meeting from Monday, 08/17 to an online meeting on 08/19, with no prior notice is a sham. We the people, your constituents have a right to be heard, in person. You are denying that right to us. This decision was made unilaterally by the council before the meeting and the public was met with closed doors. With the exception of Sid Daoud, the council is not acting on behalf of the public majority who take the time to come to these meetings, to voice their concerns and opinions. You are duly elected to serve the public, who employs you. Closing the doors on the public, in my opinion, is cowardly. Respectfully submitted, Lynn Noble Kalispell, MT
