To whom it may concern;
I am greatly saddened by the news of the recent closures of the north fire stationdue to the lack of staff. We understand this staff shortage is due to nothing more
than the unsupported decision to hire the appropriate staff needed to fill theschedule and keep the station open.
As we all know, the Kalispell area is one of the fastest growing areas in the state
and possibly even the western US, and although those in power are obviouslyhappy about the growth, that growth comes with greater responsibilities to care
for the residents in that region. My son and his young family, with two youngchildren, live in this northern area. If they needed emergency service, under the
current shortages, it would take an unacceptable amount of response time to gethelp needed.
As an Emergency Room Nurse, I am very aware that response time is extremely
essential in desired outcomes. Without the assurance of the north station open,these response times are significantly hindered. This is a problem that, hopefully,
the counsel of Kalispell will give its immediate attention and SOLUTION! Whenoutcomes can be haltered for the benefit of all, this topic should be at the top of
the agenda.
Please vote to increase the city emergency budget and staff the emergency serviceappropriately to ensure the best care of your citizens.
Sincerely,
Monica L. Cook, RN
