06-04-20 Press Release_ Response to Permitting QuestionsFrom:City Clerk To:Aimee Brunckhorst Subject:[EXTERNAL] Press Release: Response to Permitting Questions Date:Thursday, June 4, 2020 2:28:51 PM View this in your browser PRESS RELEASE With recent developments in the community, there have been questions expressed related to the City of Kalispell’s perceived permitting or cancellation of events. In response to questions regarding permitting of events, it is important to note that the City of Kalispell does not require permits for people to gather when there is no exclusive use of city property or services. We fully support the right of people to engage in their right to free speech and expect them to do so in a peaceful and lawful manner. In response to questions related to the cancellation of special events related to COVID-19 concerns, event cancellations, including the Fourth of July parade, are a determination of the respective event organizer in conjunction with state guidance related to the pandemic and/or other related concerns that may be present for their respective event. While the City of Kalispell has not denied event applications for COVID related matters, we respect and support the decisions that event organizers are facing as they make their respective decisions based on the pertinent state guidelines. ### This complimentary message is being sent to opt-in subscribers who might be interested in its content.
