Subject:East Side Access at Kalispell City Airport
Patty:
The subject of east side access has been discussed several times over the years. Basically
there isn't enough room to provide acceptable RW-TW separation on both sides of the
airport. The future plan only has space for the a Runway and a parallel Taxiway on one-
side.
The west side was determined to be more desirable for general aviation and didn't require
the expensive Highway 93 frontage. Thus giving up the east side for land sale and taxiawy
access in favour of a full parallel taxiway on the west side was felt to be more
beneficial.
We have also discussed the extinguishing of any formal easements that may be in place for
aeronatical purposes on the east side (ie. Red Eagle and the hangar with a paint
operation? nearer the south end). In the event there are "unwritten" easements to airport
(through-the- fence operations) from the east side these should be discussed with Charlie
Harball and a course of action to extinguish them should be put into place.
I hope this helps. If you have any other questions please give me a call.
