SUBJECT: Approve 2010 Preliminary Budget and call for a Public Hearing
MEETING DATE: June 15, 2009
BACKGROUND: Annually, prior to fiscal year end, the council is requested to make a
motion to approve the Preliminary Budget for 2010. The budget is adopted as presented and a
public hearing date is set. After hearing the public, the council will take into consideration
public comment, make any changes and adopt the Final Budget in September. The finance
department will provide updated numbers in August for changes to the budget due to carryover's
and revised estimates. The City will receive taxable values from the Department of Revenue by
the end of August. The budget will be presented for final adoption by resolution at a meeting in
September.
The budget public hearing will be set for July 20th. Any taxpayer may appear concerning the
budget. A Preliminary Budget is available at the reference desk at the Library. Copies are
available for sale (cost of printing) in the finance office. A reference copy is also available at
City Hall for use on site. The Preliminary Budget is available on the website under Hot Topics.
RECOMMENDATION: Motion to approve the 2010 Preliminary Budget and call for public
hearing for July 20th, 2009.
