What kind of role modeling and leadership could "grown-ups" expect from a Doctor on
the Board of Health, moreover during a Pandemic? It was recently brought to my
attention by a Flathead County former patient of mine to watch a video posted on
uTube by a new BOH member, Dr. Anne Bukacek. As a retired FCHC APRN( nurse
practitioner) I was totally flummoxed when she was initially appointed with her anti-
vaccine history. However, after reviewing her video which apparently and hopefully
was before the county Shelter-in-Place mandate, I was appalled. In all good faith,she is inappropriate to represent the County Health Department as well as the
innocent people she is encouraging with cynicism, doubt, conspiracy theories, and
inaccurate information. Taking this a step further, this behavior was never, ever,
allowed from an employee in our Health Department, and would have been groundsfor termination. It's demoralizing and hateful.
Personal political idiocracy(check the spelling if confused) is best left in the privacy of
one's own home or please resign and run for the political or religious office of one's
choice. There is no room in healthcare for politics. At this uniquely stressful time, asleaders of our Flathead County, be part of the bridge to health and kindly let this
woman find her audience elsewhere.
