COVID19 Re_ Removal Bukacek from Health Board Public Comment from Betty Kuffel, MD FACPFrom:Betty Kuffel To:Kalispell City Council Subject:[EXTERNAL] Re: Removal Bukacek from Health Board Date:Wednesday, April 15, 2020 10:06:33 AM Attention: All Council Members As an internal medicine physician with decades of experience and a member of the American College of Physicians and a FACP, I must protest the appointment of Ann M. Bukacek, MD, FACP, to the Flathead City-County Health Board. She must be removed. This physician has publicly announced conspiracy and anti-science views that are dangerous and possibly deadly to the people of Montana. We are faced with a pandemic sweeping the world and the United States, with people falling ill and dying in Montana. Dr. Bukacek has recommended the residents of Montana disregard the recommendations of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the order by Governor Bullock to practice social distancing and stay-at-home to stop spread of the disease. This course is guaranteed to cause more illness and death. She also is strongly opposed to vaccination which is the only hope of controlling the pandemic once a vaccine does become available. Her video at Liberty Fellowship MT with 716,000 views spews conspiracies and contradicts health experts. As a physician member of the American College of Physicians she is supposed to be an advocate for health, human rights and well-being of the public. Instead, she is in ethical violation of her position in the ACP and putting people in danger. Her anti-vaxxer views and position on the Pro-Life Coalition make it unlikely she can divorce herself from such views and provide fair, objective science-based healthcare and professional guidance to the population of Flathead County. Dr. Bukacek is unqualified to be on the Board of Health and should never have been considered for the position because of her extremist views. Who on the board is educated and qualified to be making decisions affecting the health and welfare of Montana residents? Betty Kuffel, MD FACPWhitefish, MT
