Subject: [EXTERNAL] Water and sewer fee
Dear City council,
As a long time resident of Kalispell I have contributed to building and running our water and sewer infrastructure.
Recently we doubled our billing expense for no apparent benefit other than doubling our work load. To me it looked like
a make work project.
Now you think it's appropriate to double our water rates while we reduce the cost for new connections to our system.
Really!
That's as bass ackwards as It can be.
Seems to me impact fees should be doubled. Not cut.
Do you think if 4 families contribute to build a communal well and distribution system to their houses that they would
allow another party to hook into their system for half of what they have invested? Probably not!
Many in our community are struggling to make ends meet while expenses rise and income has stagnated.
Make the new arrivals pay for the infrastructure already in place.
Sincerely,
Roger Gussner
