Hello members of the City Council,
I am writing with a concern about a member of the Flathead City-County Health Board, Annie Bukacek. Dr.
Bukacek has been circulating videos of herself and Facebook posts calling into doubt the expert advice of local
health officials and undermining the proactive actions Governor Bullock and others have taken to keep all
Montanans safe during this pandemic. She has been downplaying the severity of the pandemic by calling into
question the number of deaths and likening the cancellations of elective surgeries to “rationing of care.” As a hard-
working nurse at KRMC, I take offense to Dr. Bukacek’s description of our ER as being “empty” and essentially
encouraging community members to believe that Covid-19 is a made up media hoax. This is false.
Dr. Bukacek’s use of anti-government fear tactics are harmful and misleading to the public, and I strongly believe
she has no place on the health board due to these actions. As a local official, her job is to promote unity and
cohesiveness, and she instead is sowing discord in order to promote her own agenda.
I appreciate your time and look forward to hearing back from you about what actions can be taken to address Dr.
Bukacek’s behavior. Thank you very much, and you all stay safe!
