City leaders,
Our entire nation is aware of the current crisis. We live it every day. But we as a society must
be careful on how we react, and deal with this issue. Enacting curfews (among otherresponses) is drastic. It's offensive to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. It's borderline
tyranny, to be frank. And it's unneeded. The numbers do not support such actions. What hasme concerned most about this pending vote, is it puts ALL of this power in the hands of one
person. We are Americans, and we do not live in a dictatorship. I might would be more infavor of this proposal IF it left the decisions up to the council. But for one person to have
these "authorities" is dangerous, and highly inflammatory.
We cannot allow panic to dictate our decisions. We cannot simply through out the window, that which our country, our community, is based on. We the people- we vote. Those elected
govern. But we the people did not vote to elect a single ruler over our community.
I respect every single person on the council. But if you allow this to pass- if you giveConstitutionally offensive power to anyone (even your own council), then that respect is
gone.
I urge you to consider another means to the ends you seek. I know a large majority of citizensfeel the same way I do. This is not Washington. This is not California. This is MONTANA!
We are strong, independent people.
Find another way,
Respectfully,
Christopher Petersen
