KALISPELL TECHNICAL ADVISORY COMMITTEE
The Kalispell Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) will meet on Thursday September 6,
2012 starting at 1:00 p.m. in the MDT 2nd Floor Conference Room at 85 – 5th
Avenue EN in Kalispell. A final agenda is provided below.
The agenda for the meeting will be:

1. Review the urban area boundary map around the City of Kalispell. This boundary
is used to determine the area of jurisdiction for the TAC as well as to serve as the
funding boundary for Urban Aid Projects. Staff will provide a recommended map
boundary based on discussions at an August 30th meeting with MDT staff.
2. Status of Kalispell’s Urban Aid Highway project. In 2010 the TAC tentatively
nominated Whitefish Stage from Idaho north to West Reserve as the next urban
highway project. In the past 25 years urban aid monies were used to reconstruct
Main Street (US 93) in 1983 and most recently North Meridian. Since 2010
Kalispell has been accruing urban highway funds (currently $600,000/year) for its
next project. MDT would like to begin preliminary engineering. TAC will review the
Whitefish Stage nomination and determine if it is still the most appropriate project.
3. Discussion of the overall road design for Alternate US Highway 93 North from the
intersection with US 2 in Kalispell north to the Reserve Drive/Highway 93 North
intersection
4. Status of the Courthouse Couplet design and construction project (south main).
5. Update on the status of Flathead County’s next secondary road project. Big
Mountain was the last secondary road project funded in Flathead County.
6. MDT update of various city, county, state and federal highway projects in the area.
