A RESOLUTION APPROVING AN APPLICATION FOR A LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENT
BLOCK GRANT TO FUND OVERTIME FOR POLICE WORKING OVERTIME RELATED TO
JUVENILE SUBSTANCE ABUSE AND BIKE PATROLS IN THE BUSINESS DISTRICT
AND LOCAL PARKS.
WHEREAS, the Kalispell Police Department has proposed instituting
a program whereby officers would engage in bike patrol
within the business district and local parks to deal with
juvenile substance abuse and community oriented policing,
and
WHEREAS, the United States Department of Justice has available a
Local Law Enforcement Grant Program (COPS) to fund
overtime for officers engaged in the type of program
proposed by the Kalispell Police Department, and
WHEREAS, the City of Kalispell desires to avail itself of the COPS
program for the purposes designated by the Kalispell
Police Department.
WHEREAS, the Grant, in the amount of $9,323.00, would be a Special
Revenue Fund, 2918, Local Law Enforcement Block Grant, in
the fiscal 1999 budget.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
KALISPELL, AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION I. That the City Council hereby approves the
application by the Kalispell Police Department
for a U.S. Department of Justice, COPS Grant,
in the amount of $9,323.00 for the purpose of
providing overtime in combating juvenile
substance abuse and community oriented
policing.
