RESOLUTION NO. .4344
A RESOLUTION CALLING FOR A SPECIAL ELECTION ON THE QUESTION OF
EXPENDING UP TO $2,500,000 TO RENOVATE CENTRAL SCHOOL, TO BE HELD
ON THE 4"m DAY OF NOVEMBFR, 1997 IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE CITY
GENERAL ELECTION.
WHEREAS, the City of Kalispell owns certain real property within
the City commonly know as the Central School, located
East one-half (E '?, Block 45, Kalispell Original
Townsite, and
WHEREAS, the City is considering expending a sum not to exceed
$2,500,000 for the renovation of said property, and
WHEREAS, the City upon completion of renovation proposes to lease
said property to the Northwest Montana Historical Society
for use a museum, and
WHEREAS, under § 7-8-4201, MCA the sale or lease of municipal
property may only be made by Ordinance or Resolution
passed by two-thirds vote of all members of the Council,
and
WHEREAS, under S 7-5-132, MCA, the City Council may refer any
existing or proposed ordinance to a vote of the people by
resolution, and
WHEREAS, the City Council deems it advisable prior to committing
a sum not to exceed $2,500,000 for the renovation of
Central School to refer the expenditure of said sum to
the electors of Kalispell.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
KALISPELL, AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION_I. That the City Council of the City of Kalispell -
does hereby refer to a vote of the electors of
the City of Kalispell a proposal to expend
$2,500,000 for the renovation of Central
School. pursuant to S 7-5-132, MCA.

SECTION II. That the proposal shall be submitted to the
electors of the City at the City General
Election to be held on November 4, 1997.
That the issue presented to the electors at
said election shall be in the form set forth
in Exhibit "A", attached hereto and for
purposes of this Resolution made a part
hereof.
SECTION IV. That the City Clerk of Council and the City
Attorney are hereby directed to forthwith
prepare the necessary statements, notices, and
ballot issue material to assist the Flathead
County Election Administrator to have the
proposed alternative form of the City
government submitted to the electors as set
forth herein.
PASSED AND APPROVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL AND THE MAYOR OF THE CITY
OF KALISPELL THIS 7TH DAY OF JULY, 1997.
