RESOLUTION NO.-.333__
A RESOLUTION DECLARING AN EMERGENCY FLOOD PROCLAMATION FOR THE CITY
OF ICALISPELL, MONTANA.
WHEREAS, record winter snowpack with record water content has
accumulated within the City of Kalispell river drainages, and
WHEREAS, scientific data collected by Flathead County
Interagency Flood Task Force members postulate a high probability
of significant urban and riverine flooding, and
WHEREAS, Flathead County Interagency Flood Task Force members
estimate that "average" amounts of spring precipitation could
exceed the current flood of record, and
WHEREAS, any significant change in weather conditions
producing a rapid or prolonged warming trend, accompanied by rain
could lead to serious, immediate, flood conditions, and
WHEREAS, many local jurisdictions and agencies have begun
serious efforts to organize county -wide resources to prepare and
respond to flooding, and
WHEREAS, the availability and utilization of all necessary
city government services, equipment and supplies will further the
efforts to protect health and safety and to preserve the lives,
property and resources of the people of the City of Kalispell, and
WHEREAS, the existing and increasing probability of flood
occurrence of unprecedented size and destructiveness necessitates
a country -wide emergency management system that_ authorizes and
provides for all aspects of disaster_ prevention, preparedness,
response and recovery coordination of local, state and federal
resources and agencies, and
WHEREAS, the term "emergency," as defined.in section 10-3-
103(6), M.C.A., means the imminent threat of disaster causing
immediate peril to life or property that timely action can avert or
minimize.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
KALISPELL AS FOLLOWS:
S>TON z. That an emergency is hereby proclaimed
pursuant to Section 10-3-402, M.C.A.
SECTION II. That copies of this resolution be filed with
the Flathead County Clerk & Recorder, County
Assessor and the Montana Disaster and
Emergency Services Division located in Helena,
Montana.
SECTION ITT. This Resolution shall take effect immediately
upon passage by the City Council and approval
by the Mayor.
