RESOLUTION NO. 4250
A RESOLUTION ADOPTING THE FLATHEAD VALLEY/GLACIER NATIONAL PARK
CLEAN CITIES PROGRAM AND AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO SIGN A MEMORANDUM
OF UNDERSTANDING WITH THE U.S. DEPARTMENT OF ENERGY.
WHEREAS, the City of Kalispell recognizes the need to protect the
air and water resources of the Flathead Valley, and
WHEREAS, the U.S. Department of Energy and General Services
Administration have established the 'Clean Cities
Program" to reduce dependence on petroleum -based fuels
and to reduce emissions for vehicles by promoting the use
of public alternative fuel vehicles, and
WHEREAS, pursuant to said Program the Flathead Valley/Glacier
National Park Clean Cities Program was created with the
goals of expanding the number of alternative fuel
vehicles; developing a self-sustaining, cost effective
alternative fuel vehicles program and promoting
alternative forms of transportation, and
WHEREAS, the Flathead City/County Health Department is the Clean
City Coordinator, and
WHEREAS, a Memorandum of Understanding has been drafted for
execution by various entities with Flathead County and
Glacier National Park which support goals and objectives
of the Clean Cities Program.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
KALISPELL AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION I. That the City of Kalispell hereby adopts the
Flathead County/Glacier National Park Clean
Cities Program, dated November 24, 1995.
SECTION II. That the Mayor is authorized and directed to
sign on behalf of the City the Memorandum of
Understanding with other stakeholders of the
Clean Cities Program.
SECTION III. This Resolution shall take effect immediately
upon passage by the City Council.
