BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING
April 16, 2019
MEMBERS PRESENT:
Mary Pat Murphy, Everit Sliter, Cate Webber, Beth Collier, Chris Vick, Sue Corrigan, Teri
Iwerson, Carrie Nelson, Tia Robbins, Mark Norley, Mark Schickendantz, Will Chippich, Executive
Director, Brit Clark Assistant Director.
Meeting called to order at 4:00 at the Mansion.
TREASURER'S REPORT
• Everit shared the Endowment fund has done well this period after the dip in December.
ASSISTANT DIRECTOR'S REPORT
• The new clothing exhibit for this season will be Through Alicia's Eyes (1908-1974) and
highlight her dresses. There will be a press release.
• Next newsletter will be coming out at beginning of May.
• Death by Chocolate- phones are ringing off the hook for tickets.
• The Mansion is fully staffed with guides. There will be 10 new people this season.
• Brit presented the Mansion story at a Women's Connection lecture. She will present
again on May 16t". She created a PowerPoint presentation that is available if anyone
else would like to use it as well.
• Weddings- so far only one is booked for summer, and another is tentative. Membership
has nine renewals this month.
• Miriam Emerson's Celebration of Life has been rescheduled for May 25t" at 3:00 at the
Mansion. The Board would like to send flowers. Sue volunteered to make floral
arrangements.
EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR'S REPORT
• Mansion visitors Year -to -Date: 135. (This compares to 8 last year.)
• Death By Chocolate Update: Will has been busy with preparations. A new
photographer, Andrea Marie, took the cast photos this year. She is volunteering some
photos for the Events page of the website. Will said the photos were quite nice.
• Windows update: Painting has been slow due to the rainy/snowy weather. Extra guys
were hired to help when the weather is good. Some windows had rot, which was
sanded, refilled and sealed. The painter will provide a list of windows that needed
treatment. Tisch has been a great help in getting the windows out.
• Garden update: Jeanette Rae Shelton was hired as the Mansion Gardener. She has
already started. The other candidate was not able to work as planned. Tyler would like
to start on the renovation within the next two weeks, weather permitting. Hiring for
the Garden Renovation Crew Chief and laborers is going through LC Staffing. One more
laborer is still needed. Tyler anticipates 20-25 days to work on Phase One of the
replanting.
• New Season Preparations: Volunteers have been cleaning the house. Tour Season
begins May 15tn
FINANCE COMMITTEE REPORT:
• Chris Vick recommended adding an expenditure for the Staff Appreciation party as it is a
traditional event.
• There is unease about the budgeted contributions.
• Marketing Committee will wait for the approved budget before they proceed.
OLD BUSINESS:
Teri Iwerson agreed to renew her term.
NEW BUSINESS:
• Discussion centered on the idea of offering Corporate Room Sponsorships for the tour
Season.
• What is best way to acknowledge sponsors? Proposed ideas included: providing
handouts of sponsors on tours, Guides acknowledging sponsors at end of tours, website
recognition and signage in rooms (tasteful and not too obnoxious). The room signage
was most favored.
• A Meeting to Discuss Room Sponsorships will be held at noon on Tuesday, April 30t" at
Flathead Electric. Check in at the front desk.
Update Signers on Mansion Bank Accounts:
• A Motion was made for the Executive Committee will be signers on Mansion bank and
investment accounts. The Executive Committee includes Katherine King (President),
Mary Pat Murphy (Vice President), Everit Sliter (Treasurer), Carrie Nelson (Secretary)
and Sue Corrigan (Past President). All members were in favor.
