MEMORANDUM
August 27, 2019
TO: Doug Russell, City Manager
FROM: Tom Tabler, PE, Project Manager
CC: Susie Turner, PE, Public Works Director
SUBJECT: Sylvan Drive Storm Sewer Rehabilitation Project PH II
MEETING: September 3, 2019
BACKGROUND: The Sylvan Drive Storm Sewer Rehabilitation Project PH II is an improvement
project selected to remove excess sedimentation from the regional storm pond located just south
of Sylvan Drive. The first phase of the project replaced an existing 48 inch storm main that had
worn through in places and was eroding road material above it. Most of this material ended up in
the storm pond downstream. The first phase also included the installation of two new mechanical
storm water treatment units. These units remove suspended solids from storm water prior to it
being discharged into the pond. Both these improvements have reduced sediments from being
deposited into the downstream pond. This current project will excavate those excess sediments
down to the original design capacity of the pond.
