The first phase of the project replaced an existing 48 inch storm main that had worn through in places and was eroding road material above it. Most of this material ended up in the storm pond downstream. The first phase also included the installation of two new mechanical storm water treatment units. These units remove suspended solids from storm water prior to it being discharged into the pond. Both these improvements have reduced sediments from being deposited into the downstream pond. This current project will excavate those excess sediments down to the original design capacity of the pond. Bids were received on Tuesday August 27, 2019 at 3:00 PM. Three responsive bids were received from local contractors: Contractor. Base Bid Price: NCC Neumann Const. Co $96,635.00 AGC, Inc. $126,768.00 Downing Underground $175,683.00 Engineer's Estimate $110,784.00 NCC Neumann Const. Co. has been found to be a responsive and responsible contractor. ACTION REQUESTED: Motion to award the Sylvan Drive Storm Sewer Rehabilitation Project PH II to NCC Neumann Const. Co. with the execution of the Base Bid for $96,635.00. FISCAL EFFECTS: The total project construction cost will be funded by the Storm Water Fund (5210). Line item 5210-447-430246-955 (Sylvan) has adequate funds for the completion of this project with a current balance of $367,647.00. ALTERNATIVES: As suggested and approved by the City Council.
