Public Hearing - On-Street ParkingPublic Works 201 V Avenue East PO Box 1997 Kalispell, MT 59903 Phone: 406-758-7720 www.kalispell.com /public works MEMORANDUM March 13, 2019 To: Doug Russell, City Manager From: Keith Haskins, City Engineer Re: On -Street Parking Designations Public Hearing - Amendment of the Kalispell Design and Construction Standards Meeting Date: March 18, 2019 Background: Public Works Staff has participated with Council during several work sessions, since November of 2017, to develop standard language for on -street parking. Areas of concern needing "No Parking" designation were brought forward for Council's attention, and Council requested staff to develop standard language that could be applied to all streets. In consideration of Councils request, on -street parking language was developed that includes consideration for street classification (principle arterial, minor arterial, collectors, and local), street and intersection width and geometrics, and implementation procedures. The proposed resolution, updates the City's Design and Construction Standards to incorporate on -street parking language to be applied to existing and new streets alike. The table below summarizes the resolution language: On Street Parking Recommendations for City Code Adoption Minimum Street Width Classification Min. Design Clear Vision Triangle Min.
