Minutes from July 1.1, 2001 Meeting
The meeting began at 3:00 p.m. Present were: Mike Baker, P. J. Sorenson, and Kathy Kuhlin (staff),
Gib Bissell, Mike Manion, Scott Richardson, Keith Robinson, Art Thompson, and Torn. weaver.
Phil Porrini from Peccia and Associates and a gentlemen from Dale McGarvey's office representing
the Siderius'.
Phil reviewed the Site Selection Study with the board. Discussion was held regarding pages 1-66
regarding cost comparison. Firm sites were Utilized for site selection rather than a fictitious site like
what was listed in the Master Plan. Peccia will print ten copies, and some will be sent to the FAA.
Our board approved the document.
The Land Acquisition study will be done with the Environmental Assessment. once we obtain our
permanent FO SI status, we can make a grant request from the FAA.
On July 25t", Phil would like some representatives from the City and our board to go to Helena and
talk to the FAA to see what the next step will be. Phil will check with Gary Gates to see if he is
available. (Mote: We received notice that Gary Gates won't be available until II a.m. on
Wednesday, August 15 ". Chris, Fred Leistiko, Gib Bissell (pilot) and perhaps Mike Baker will be
attending.)
Regarding Diamond Aire, John Talmage (co-owner) was to call Mike Baker. Mike will call there
again - he was encouraged by their last conversation. Mike will write a letter to follow up.
We got some money from the Tax Increment District for fencing on the east side. Perhaps as an
Eagle Scout project, we could have the Eagle Scouts bury the wiring and put in the conduit.
Kathy will send a letter to the pilots who have old boats, weeds, junk, etc., giving them 30 days to
clean it all up or the City will do it for them and then send them the bill. The letter should be signed
by the City.
Mowing was discussed.
Phil Porrini met with John Stokes from KGEz Radio. Also attending their meeting was Mike Baker,
Torn Weaver, and Keith Robinson. They met for I hour and 15 minutes. Joe Micolotti from
Missoula, Stokes' attorney, was present through telephone conferencing. Radio towers are air space
obstructions. options were discussed: strobing, relocation, etc. Stokes noted that he just passed an
FCC inspection regarding the lighting issue raised by the Montana Aeronautics Division.

Art brought up the CEDS (Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy) meeting that took place
at the Outlaw Inn earlier today regarding the valley's economic development activity, goals, and
accomplishments. He had spoken with Susan Moyer before our meeting to discuss this. Art thought
that someone from our board should attend any future meetings. Tong weaver volunteered to attend,
(In speaking with Susan Moyer, she said it is too late for us to get involved, and that the final
document will be ready in October.)
The meeting was adjourned at 4:30 p.m.
The next regular meeting will be Wednesday, August S, 2001- at 3:00 p.m.
