10-18-00 Airport MinutesCity of Kalispell Minutes from October 18, 2000 Meeting The meeting began at 4 : Q o p.m. at the Aero Inn. Present were: Chris K.0 kul ski, Mike Bakers Dick Brady, Craig Kerzman, Ted Waggener, and Kathy Kuhlin (staff),, Gib Bissell, Fred Lei stiko, Mike Manion, Keith Robinson, Jinn Robischon, Art Thompson, and Toni weaver. Three topics were discussed as per Chris' memo (attached). Chris said that Rich Bickel, Assistant City Attorney, and Phil Porrini from Peccia and Associates are working on the contract between the City and Peccia. Mike Baker said he spoke with Phil and Peccia will get the contract to us by Friday. The County Commissioners are interest in the airport overlay zone, but need to know the exact runway location. It is done as far as preparation goes, but we need to have the determination of the runway alignment. Gib asked if someone wanted to build a large building in the county next to the airport, could they get away with that? We will have to consult P . J. at a later time. Signs have been posted regarding the trespassing situation and we hope this will help with the problem. .Discussion was held primarily by Fred and Gib regarding the condition of the airport presently. Miscellaneous junk, old cars, wood piles, etc. all need to be cleared off of the airport property. Fred suggested we put tie downs on the west side of the airport so as to move the airplanes that are near Rosauer's where gas is being stolen. Fred wants a barricade on the asphalt road at the sIouth end of the airport extending to Burton's. They would be considered a "through the fence operation' and be billed that articular fee when the p P fence is built. In addition, a barricade could be built between "Loose Ends" and the hangar. We need to ask Burton for permission to put up the barricade. Torgersen's road goes into the airport also. Perhaps the City cold do some partial fencing to begin with that would be compatible with the potential FAA fencing, that may be installed at a later date. The board and staff continued the meeting with a tour of the airport and discussion at various points around the airport regarding the trespassing concerns. The meeting was adjourned at approximately 5 : oo p.m. The next regular meeting will be Wednesday, November 8, 2000 at 4:00 p.m. at City Fall. Kathy Kuhn Recording Secretary
